Turning Light On It's Head With SK

I hate boring lights. Oh let's admit it I hate being bored. Ever

As you might know I get bored easily. And I swear I'm not ADD...

This light was slightly pretty and best of all free...So let's see if I can completely ruin it by taking it apart.

I dislike electricity. Or just am scared of getting zapped. It makes my heart stutter.
But that doesn't stop me from playing with lights. Most all new lighting can be disassembled.
Unscrew all the parts. Make a drawing which shows how it goes back together if you screw it up...Never

Now try to figure out a way to put it all back together. Upside down no less.

Wiring. Not my strong talent.

In the meantime. Get your hair cut...
Add a few pretty embellishments, Edison bulbs, Paint and wa la, my new light for my studio.

Ron always turns my creations on first, in case of explosions...

The Old Red Ball Jar Caddy

My mother would be shocked to see what I'm up to with perfectly good canning jars...
Ron built me the little sectioned box from old scrap wood.

I used a stencil to make the raised designs. I then primed the Ball glass jars with a bonding primer. Let this dry and then sanded and re-coated,

I chalked painted with different red paints. When it was dry, I sanded all the edges and antiqued it with a chocolate glaze. Waxed and buffed to a old shine.
The glass jars were painted with a bonding primer, I will be painting more jars of different colors for different seasons.

Old Oak Rocker with SK

Not all Old is Old with SK

This decrepit old rocking chair had seen beeter days. Two of his legs had been broken in the past. Glued and scewed. I took him apart and repaired the old joints,
The carving was intact and in beautiful shape.
I fine sanded the entire chair and dusted.
I mixed several of my favorite colors of chalk paint.
After painting each section, I set it aside to dry. I sanded each coat and repeated each color, Sanded and buffed with a clear paste wax. Dry and buff, Then repeated three times.

As I patently waited for the wax to dry, I upholstered the little inset seat with the black and white pockadot fabric.

She turned out with a sassy additude and will be fun to show off.

SK's Creative ProX Ladies Night

Our local Home Builders store,  ProX has a great reputation. They are responsible for hosting Ladies Night at ProX.

I've been invited to share my knowledge with chalk paints. Fun.😃

February 2, 2017, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.

I have had a bit of fun coming up with, maybe, a few ideas to show how versions and techniques make the difference in the final products look.
