Poppin' Up Possies with SK

As each flower and leaf was placed, the design began to take shape.

 A Sisters Dream Room

Two sisters joyfully share a little dream, which they know Nana can create for them.
It all starts with the sweet colors of teal, pinks and corals.
The tree trunk and branches are painted directly onto the wall and ceiling. Decorative paper is used to make 3-D leaves and flowers. I pinched the leaf bottoms together to give them a more dimentional apperanace. Then using thumb tacks, just simply tack them in place.

The oldest of the sisters wanted to be a part of her rooms creation. She had such fun working with her Nana.
The bright green cabinet was created using an old, worn, black armoire. Her insides are painted teal.
Thanks for visiting.

Sweet Lizzie Rose Two

Onward and Upward With Sweet Lizzie Rose

An eight hundred mile trip to finish Lizzie Rose's pretty little room. This cottage is over a hundred years old and built from brick. Without an investment in time these old houses can look forlorn and abused.

Chef Darcy of Silver Spoon Cakes from Salt Lake City requested this cute redo.

Texas With Nana

Tex is an amazing boy. He is not only very cute but is brilliant. He has requested that I remake his private space.(his room)

So here we go. I am traveling to Salt lake to remake two children's rooms.

Lizzie Rose and Texas Keith.

Lizzies is inspired by her middle name. Rose. Her quilt, wall painting and new little table will be her secret little world designed and painted especially for her.

Tex is an Americana aficionado.  He loves old cars, planes and anything rusty. I have decided to make his room in the true American colors of old red, white and blue. The walls are going to be painted a linen wash denim blue. Old metal planes, cars and signs will take his imagination up a notch.
I made a true to size licence plate with his name and date of birth. This was painted with Modern Masters Metal Effects Paint. Iron and copper.

Poppin Up Posies

What can be more fun than redecorating a babies room?

Family Trees

Paint is such a fun way to add personality to a home. This family tree needed to be just a bit different than all the vinyl and painted trees. I didn't want it to conflict with the amazing handrail.

The tree was drawn on a paper template, cut and then taped to the wall. We then sponge painted around the outside edges for a 3-d effect.
Summer Lakey added her two bits up and down the latter for a few hours. Loved having her help me.

The owner plans on adding additional pictures and maybe even a birds nest for texture and definition.

Newest and Fun Projects

We have been traveling to our kids homes and having fun with our grandkids and several projects.
Paige' new quilt and bed.

A new 3D will tree for the new baby coming.

Our little Pixie Paige.

Dear Soldiers. Thank You.

He is a Chief Master Sergeant John Gebhardt in the USAF serving in Afghanistan As high as you can go in enlisted ranks (E-9) John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head... But they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John 's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan.

The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.

He is a real Star of the war, and represents what the members of our services are trying to do. This, my friends, is worth sharing. Go for it!! You'll never see things like this in the news.

Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don't, but the public needs to see pictures like this and needs to realize that we're making a difference. Even if it is just one little girl at a time.

Buggy Book

My children's book  and it's illustrations on it's way. But what a mess in the kitchen. I can't believe how long it is taking me to paint each page. Maybe I'm just stalling?

My Gifts To Me

I have two daughters. They are gifts to me.

How Grateful Am I?

As a creative person, apparently my mind works and sees life differently than others might.  I want to surround myself with people whom are creative, but also have a knowing faith of the gift.

I have always had  faith to follow this creative vision, and been grateful for the challenge of not becoming too worldly in the process.

How do we be "in the world, but not of the world"? I have often questioned my motives for a creation. Am I doing this for the pure love of creating or am I after a worldlier goal?

Can I create, enjoy the creating and the attention it can bring, yet be eternally grateful from Whom it was given?

I have given some thoughts to my creations.

Through A Mothers Eyes

As a professional artist and designer I find myself eying other artists work. I have been astounded by my own children's creativity. I want to share them with you. I'm not a bit proud now am I?

Sean (oldest son) has given me such a hard time as he grew up. Never wanting to take part in anything creative. Wow, look what he does now. Don't ever call him an artist though...

Jared (second son) has become an amazing outdoorsman. His love of nature is captured as he fishes (catch and release) the Pacific Northwest fish. His brother, Sean, and he are determined to catch and release every native fish they can find. You can see their adventures on Youtube at:http://www.youtube.com/user/SKsWhiteOaks#p/a/u/1/XUsDU_BXAg8

He uses his bit of spare time teaching himself to play the guitar and  creating marvelous wood crafts with his Shopsmith. Don't call him an artist either. Hmmmm. This is getting old.

Darcy Kay Sartell Jackson (third child, oldest daughter) OK, OK. So I just want to talk about my kids. I guess I have artists in the family whether they want to be or not.

Darcy is a Chef, a creative paper crafts artist , designer, artist, and who knows what else is yet in store.

She has a blast designing and creating cakes. She can design that amazingly specific cake for just about any occasion. Her home is  fun with creative and inexpensive touches everywhere.

Texas and Lizzie (her little ones) benefit from her creativity as well. When do you find the time? Breathe, just breathe.

You can visit her latest creations at: http://myartisticventures.blogspot.com/

As my children get older I have to catch my breath at what they accomplish. Self-taught or maybe a little inherited talent?

Summer Heather lakey (Second daughter and youngest) Of course being the youngest gets Summer the privilege of being called "spoiled" by her older siblings. I disagree. She is just different. And How!

A sociology major, painter, photographer and all around artist, Summer leaves the cake decorating up to her big sister Darcy. She took four years to design her very own wedding cake, which then all three Sartell girls put their hand too.
Summer designed the cake, we  had her hand drawings silk screened in chocolate onto Mylar. I then transferred the designs onto white chocolate and applied the solid white chocolate to the walls of her cake. I added the fresh flowers and put the cake together. Darcy then topped it off with her fancy frosting bead-work.
I have posted a complete "How in world we did it" at the following address. Feel free to take my ideas and run with them. I hope you have three months to spare.

Take a look at some of her photography at:

and

I can honestly say " where in world do they get it?"  Lemme' guess... I simply love creative people, whether they admit to being an artist or not! Poor Ron...

See You Soon!
